(doors open at 6:30pm)

University Unitarian Church
6556 35th Ave. NE, Seattle (65 or 71 bus)

Please join us for a public conversation on imperial power and the prospects for democracy in a globalized and interconnected world; featuring two of today?s most articulate critics of American empire.

Award-winning journalist, master interviewer and director of the nationally-syndicated radio program Alternative Radio, David Barsamian is coauthor of numerous books including Speaking of Empire (with Tariq Ali) and Imperial Ambitions (with Noam Chomsky). He is also the winner of the Upton Sinclair Award for independent journalism and the 2006 Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Award. Barsamian recently celebrated AR's 20th anniversary in a sold-out event at Carnegie Hall with Howard Zinn and the Kronos Quartet.

David Korten is Board Chair of YES! Magazine and author of the classic international best-seller When Corporations Rule the World and The Post-Corporate World: Life After Capitalism. His pathbreaking new book, The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community debuts in Seattle at this special event. Jim Hightower says The Great Turning has "the power to turn our country to a more positive course." Dennis Kucinich calls it "a clear blueprint for a powerful emerging majority."

$5-$15 sliding scale. This event is a benefit for Reclaim the Media and the NW UUJEC.
