This Month:

At our last community meeting, May 10, there was broad interest in having a community meeting specifically focused on the current Seattle cable franchise agreement with Comcast. Here's what we have in store:

- UPDATE on where things stand with the franchise negotiations

- REVIEW of RTM's Comcast campaign

- GET INVOLVED with the campaign -- our Cable Campaign coordinator, Karen Toering, will help sign folks up for volunteer needs and opportunities.

What are the Reclaim the Media Community Meetings about?

* Learning about current media activist campaigns that RTM and other groups are working on -- and how you can get involved

* Meeting guest speakers from allied groups in the area, and on occasion, special guests from around the country

* Taking action in a fun, convivial setting -- (letter-writing campaigns, skill-shares, and more)

* Meeting other activists who care about the many issues facing our media and community technology systems

The media's job is to interest the public in the public interest. -John Dewey
