Position Available: Community Radio Producer/Network Organizer

Reclaim the Media is looking for a community radio producer/organizer to help take the Northwest Community Radio Network project to the next level, in collaboration with creative radio producers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and Alaska!

The position involves two main functions: (1) coordinating production of a weekly collaborative radio program and (2) organizing related to the launch of the Northwest Community Radio Network.

Specific functions will include:

(1) PRODUCER: Work with regional community radio station programmers/independent producers to coordinate production of a weekly public affairs radio program to be distributed by RTM to community radio stations around the region. Oversee production of the program, including coordination of volunteer producers at various stations.

(2) ORGANIZER: Help grow the Northwest Community Radio Network by conducting outreach to member stations and potential member stations. Coordinate with stations to promote broadcast of Network-distributed programs and other forms of collaboration, and to develop network funding. Update network website and coordinate with Reclaim the Media and technology providers to develop web resources. Serve as primary contact point for the Network.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum four years' experience working with community radio or other independent media production. Radio production skills and access to studio/production equipment. Involvement with a community radio station in the Northwest is a plus; access to high-speed Internet and audio mixing/recording equipment is a must. Some familiarity with blogs and website management a plus. Strong ability to work independently, to maintain ongoing contact via email and phone, and to conduct proactive outreach. Volunteer coordination experience a string plus. Knowledge of Northwest regional issues and news priorities a strong plus. Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

LOCATION: Flexible within Northwest region, although proximity to a participating community radio station and a local volunteer base is strongly desired. Must be willing to travel occasionally.

COMPENSATION: Monthly stipend. This is a part-time, contract position, guaranteed six months' duration with the strong likelihood of continuing for one or more years dependent upon funding.
