Listen Up Northwest program 72: WTO Plus Ten Years

Listen Up! Northwest is a collaboratively produced radio magazine featuring stories of communities in action throughout the Northwest. Each broadcast highlights the work of skilled community radio producers and artists from our region, including Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

We take a look at Seattle’s WTO demonstrations, 10 years on. We look at Lessons learned and how the protest influenced social movements today.

Jill Friedberg produced a series of features on how the WTO has changed our ideas about world trade policy and its lasting influence on the culture of social movements.

We feature an interview with author Rebecca Solnit about the media’s influence on the perception of demonstrations.
(Peter Hart, Counterspin, New York, NY)
