Over the past month, the Red Cross has managed to raise over $35 million dollars for the Haitian earthquake relief through $10 text message donations. It also means changing the way we think about accessing, analyzing, and evaluating media, as the web provides us with an increasing number of choices for information, news, and entertainment and complicates our media landscape with new advertising and marketing tactics.

Protesters were arrested for offenses one can expect at a large demonstration – lobbing rocks at police cruisers, failing to comply with orders to disperse and the like. Yet one of the most highly publicized arrest made during these protests was not due to activities on the streets, but on the web.
